This is the real thing. The Cashew is produced on a large tree growing to 40 feet. Our plants will begin producing fruit 2 years or less. The nut is contained on the lower segment of the Cashew Apple, which can also be eaten. The Cashew must be cooked first as it is poisonous otherwise. The fleshy sweet Cashew apple can be used in canning or cooking and is excellent. The nut speaks for itself. This tree is ultra-tropical and cannot be grown if temperatures fall below 65F degrees. They need high humidity, above 80% and must maintain temperatures of 70F to 90F degrees year round. One brush with cold temperatures will usually kill the tree. Our trees are grafted or air-layered.
