The Dwarf Yellow Poinciana is a medium-sized shrub or small tree to 8 - 12 feet tall and 8 - 10 feet wide. It can easily be grown in containers and will stay much smaller if done so. Though fairly tropical, (zones 9b 11), it can be successfully grown indoors provided it receives 4 6 hours of direct sun per day. Its flowers are magnificent, bright yellow and appear throughout late spring, summer and fall in clusters. Dwarf Yellow Poinciana is thorny and can be used in-ground as a border. If pruned back once per year, it will stay compact to form a natural barrier along a fence or yard. Little care is needed and can tolerate very hot and dry conditions once established. It is also moderately tolerant of salt.
