Orlando is a hybrid of Duncan Grapefruit and a Dancy Tangerine. It has little characteristics of either fruit though and more closely resembles an orange in color. The flesh is similar to a tangerine, but the taste is very different. It is very sweet and very juicy. The size and shape of the fruit has greater resemblance to a tangerine than a grapefruit and the skin is thin and fairly easy to peel. It matures from November through early January. 20,000 acres were in production, in Florida in 1970 and it continues to be a popular fruit. An excellent fruit to have in the garden as it is very different than other Tangelo's. Orlando makes an excellent juice and is a consistent bearer.
