Description

Also known as the Barbados Flower Fence, the Dwarf Red Poinciana is a medium-sized shrub or small tree to 8 - 12 feet tall and 8 - 10 feet wide. It can easily be grown in containers and will stay much smaller if done so. Though fairly tropical, (zones 9b 11), it can be successfully grown indoors provided it receives 4 6 hours of direct sun per day. Its flowers are magnificent, red to scarlet and appear throughout late spring, summer and fall in clusters. Dwarf Red Poinciana is thorny and can be used in-ground as a border. If pruned back once per year, it will stay compact to form a natural barrier along a fence or yard. Little care is needed and can tolerate very hot and dry conditions once established. It is also moderately tolerant of salt. (Photo From:http://www.sebg.co.jp)
